Daily Report

28/5/2009

For today, we did Lab 6. Still in the process of completing the presentation slides.

There were some problems when we did Lab 6 when we were reaching the end of the Lab.

We could not scan any APs. We went to find where the trouble was and it turned out that the Lab paper had some typo errors, we will be trying them again tomorrow. Hopefully, we can get Lab 6 done so that we can show something when the Review comes.

We will be doing a demo.

1 Laptop will be connected to the Network we created from Lab 6.

Another Laptop will be connected to the school's connection.

If we can get Lab 6 done, we will be able to connect to the Network, which is very crucial for us.

Day 3

Today, we learnt how to use tera-term and putty.

Both of it has the same purpose which is to configure the Switch, 2960 and 3560.

We can access to the Switch and from there, able to configure the password level and such.

Basically there are 2 types of 'password'.
1. Password
2. Secret

Both of it are used for security purposes, the difference is that when you execute the sh run command :

The Password will be shown whereas if you use Secret, the Secret would not be shown, instead random letters and characters will be shown.

The experiment we did above was part of lab 6.

24/04/09 DAY 2

Today, we did not learn much as it was a friday and everyone wasnt in our study mood. Our fellow team member lost his bike key.

But as least we had a clearer idea on what we are supposed to do for our FYP.

It is to enchance the whole wireless system.

1. Qos ( Quality of service)

which simply means to learn to filter traffic and give piority to the important clients.

This alone is not enough to give us good grades so we need more functions, but first, lets get our foundation right.
